South Sudan: Govt Rebukes Media Coverage of President Kiir's Family

Juba — South Sudan's government on Monday lashed out at media coverage of recent allegations about president Salva Kiir's family, claiming that the negative headlines could harm the country's image.

A Kenyan daily newspaper reported on Friday that the president's 23-year-old son, Manut Kiir Mayardit, was briefly detained by police after he allegedly assaulted his sister while drunk.
