Angola: Longa Farm to Harvest Over 3000 Tons of Rice

At least 3.500 tons of rice will be harvested in Longa Farm in Cuito Cuanavale municipality in the southern Cuando Cubango province, said on Monday in Londa Commune the land surveyor, Eduardo Silva.

He said so to the journalist at the end of a visit paid by the Zambian business entourage to Longa Farm in order to assess the level of functioning of that Project.

The land surveyor said that this year it 1050 hectares of rice were cultivated there, thus expecting to harvest more than 3.000 tons as from April this year.

He also said that the project is in the experimental phase which allowed in 2013 the cultivation of 500 hectares.

On his turn, the head of Zimbabwean business team, Paul Mangwana, highlighted the commitment of the Angolan government to the Project and informed that Zimbabwe so far has been importing rice.
