Kenya: Kiambu Leader Calls For Clinics Upgrade

Nairobi — The national and county governments have been urged to upgrade dialysis and renal units in public hospitals. The chairman of the Board of Governors at Bibirioni Boys High school Josiah William Kuria says kidney failure and diabetes patients are dying because they cannot afford specialised treatment in private hospitals.

He said their families incur huge hospital bills. Kuria said dialysis and renal units in Kiambu, Tigoni, Thika and Rukuma hospitals need to be improved. He was speaking in Gituamba village on Friday during the funeral of 14-yearold Francis Warunja, a form two student who died of kidney failure.
