Mozambique to Cover Costs of Cease-Fire Observers' Mission

Jose Pacheco, the government delegation chief at the talks with the Mozambique National Resistance (Renamo), said after the end of the 49th round of talks on 2 April that the Mozambican Government will pay the costs of having international observers monitoring the armed conflict cessation process in the country.

"It is clearly stated in the reference terms that funding issues are the Mozambican Government's responsibility. We will assess how to do this via the various financial resources that the government has for military operations, investment, and economic and social development in the country," Pacheco explained.
