Nigeria: Many Faces of Lagos Black Heritage Festival

Wet brushes, keen eyes and youthful hands were the sight at the two-day screening exercise of the Vision of The Child (VOTC) competition held on March 20 and 21 at the Freedom Park, Lagos.

The exercise was part of the series of activities that signal the start of the annual Lagos Black Heritage Festival (LBHF) in grand style. Out of the 82 schools that indicated interest in the competition, only 26 schools made it. On Saturday March 29, the Freedom Park was populated with bright-faced children who were eager to paint before a live audience. Sponsored by Diamond Bank and the Lagos State Government, the initiative is not just another children fun fair. It is a platform of self-expression and craftsmanship. Children stood confidently before the easels and intelligently manipulated colours and forms towards scoring an artistic goal.
