Egypt: Electricity Minister - Adding 13,000 Megawatts to Unified Electricity Grid Via Coal

Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker announced a program for adding 13,000 megawatts to the unified electricity grid via coal from now and to 2027.

It is noteworthy that the first Egyptian station, working by coal, will come on stream by 2022.

This comes after the Cabinet approved use of coal for electricity production. Shaker noted that the electricity ministry has selected three locations for establishment of the first coal-using electricity generating station.
