Liberia: Adjust Academic Calendar Over Ebola, Liberia Legislature Appeals

The attention of the Legislature has been drawn to recent reports on the outbreak of the Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever within the territorial confines of the Republic of Liberia, with multiple associated deaths recorded. The Legislature wishes to express its deepest sympathies to affected families and communities, and wishes to assure the general populace that all necessary precautions are being taken to prevent any new infections.

To this end, the Legislature hereby pledges its support for efforts by relevant ministries and agencies as well as our international partners, to rapidly respond and prevent any further spread of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Liberia. We, at the Legislature, have been appraised of the current situation and measures being taken by our government with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare as lead ministry, in collaboration with international partners, including the World Health Organization as well as the Management of Firestone Liberia.
