Somalia: UN Consultants Killed in Somalia

The U.N. mission in Somalia said the two men, who worked for the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, were shot by unidentified assailants Monday at the Galkayo airport in the semi-autonomous Puntland region.

A local journalist told VOA Somali Service that the two were killed by a man wearing an airport guard uniform.

A source at the African Union said one of the men was British, while the other was either from Denmark or Canada.

In a statement, the U.N. special representative for Somalia, Nichoas Kay, called on Somali authorities to investigate the killings immediately and bring the shooters to justice.
