Companies trying to venture into near field communication (NFC) cards have found it hard to deploy due to the cost element in rolling the technology despite the necessary tags and wristbands being cheap.
Speaking as a judge at the Imagine Cup global student technology competition, head of innovation at Safaricom Veronica Ogeto said the government can help through policy in making such cards mandatory in certain sectors such as it has done in the transport sector.
