AT independence from Britain in December 1961, the country had eight million people. Three years later in April 1964, the population increased to over nine million and today, five decades down the lane, it's peaked over 44 million.
"With this growing population and limited land for cultivation but also changes in weather pattern, a solution to our growing food needs lies in technology use," said Open Forum for Agriculture Biotechnology (OFAB) Coordinator, Philbert Nyinondi.
