11 April 2014

Akure — The body of a 45 year-old man, Abayomi Olanrewaju, was found hanging from a tree in Araromi area of Akure, Ondo State, Tuesday with a note in his pocket containing the address of his sister and a medical report which revealed that he was HIV-positive.

A security guard attached to a construction company, Isaac Okon, who first saw the body, said his boss had called him to say that a man was loitering around the bush surrounding the company, and while searching he ran into the man dangling from a tree. He then raised an alarm which attracted people to the scene. It was believed that a vehicle fan belt and a motorcycle chain were used in the hanging. A woman who identified herself as his younger sister, Mrs. Thompson, said the man had health problems and was confirmed HIV-positive.
