Uganda: Uncle Murders Three-Year - Old Niece

Police in the eastern district of Namayingo are holding a 37-year-old man on suspicion of killing his three-year-old niece, Jane Taaka. Vincent Wandera allegedly hit the little girl on the head with a big stick, killing her instantly. She was a daughter to his brother Joseph Wanyama. The April 9 tragedy took place in Bumoli village, Buswaale sub-county.

Bumoli secretary for Defence, John Ouma, said the accused could have hit the little girl to get back at his brother Wanyama who had reportedly refused to lend him Shs 200,000 to set up a retail shop. An armed mob attempted to lynch the accused but police arrived in time to save him.
