The social media comment traffic became heavy last week after the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala declared Nigeria's economy the biggest in Africa. According to Okonjo-Iweala, the country rebased its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to $510 billion, from the meagre $31 billion it was in 1990 when it was last done.
Apart from the fact that the rebasing makes Nigeria's economy the biggest in Africa from Sunday April 6, 2014, it also makes it the 26th largest in the world.
