Nigeria: Kwara Sets Up Task Force on Flood Control

Ilorin — Following the flood that wreaked havoc in Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday night, Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has constituted a seven-member Task Force on Flood Control and Restoration of Ilorin Master-plan. No fewer than four people including two children died in the flood, while properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.

A statement signed by Secretary to the state Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold said the task force would work on the restoration of llorin master plan to guide against future occurrence. The newly-constituted task force is chaired by Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr. Amuda Kannike. Other members are Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Alhaji Abubakar Mora, Commissioner for Information and Communications, Prince Tunji Moronfoye, and Special Adviser on Emergency and Relief Services, Malam AbdulAzeez Ibrahim, among others.
