The Dock Workers Union has officially declared a trade dispute with Cotu. In a letter to Labour Secretary Kazungu Kambi, the DWU secretary general Simon Sang says it is illegal for Cotu to interfere with the internal affairs of their union. The DWU has ditched Cotu for Pusetu. Sang issued a 21-day notice of there intention to seek legal action against Cotu.

He said Cotu is inciting its members, Illegally funding them with the aim of destabilising the affairs of the union and holding unauthorised meetings. Sang told the Star on the phone Cotu has no business in the affairs of the DWU.
