Namibia: N$50 000 for Easter Soccer Bonanza at Katima

Katima Mulilo — The northeastern town of Katima Mulilo is to play host to the annual Sanlam Easter Soccer Bonanza over the Easter weekend. The competition ranks among the biggest sporting events in the Zambezi Region. Sanlam Namibia has been sponsoring this event since 2009 with more than 15 teams participating every year since its inception. Apart from the sporting event being a form of entertainment for the usually quite region, the sporting bonanza is also an event that many people in the region always look forward to with keen anticipation.

The tournament is also aimed at encouraging young people to engage in positive initiatives, in order to keep them away from activities that are detrimental such as drinking, smoking, crime et cetera. Sports activities are also important for the mental and physical health of the participating individuals.
