Award-winning singer Zahara's brother has been murdered, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.

"The brother and a man he was with were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds on the banks of a river in Next Camp, outside of East London on Sunday," said spokesman Lt-Col Mtati Tana.

The deceased are Zahara's brother Mbuyiseli Mkutukana, 25, and Thanduxolo Zumani, 35.

Tana said only their cellphones were missing.

"The motive for the killings has not been established yet, we are still investigating," he said.

No arrests have been made.
