Kenya: Hired Gang Blocks Murang'a Matatus

Rivalry has emerged among public transport operators in Murang'a county. Some of the operators have accused their colleagues of hiring an illegal gang to man the routes to block them from penetrating the market.

During a meeting on transport sector and security agents in the region it emerged that illegal gangs have returned to control the feared Kaharati- Kangari route operated by Kigumo Travellers Sacco. The gang is allegedly hired by the Sacco to block other public transport providers from plying the route.
