Algeria: Marzouki Congratulates Bouteflika On Re-Election

Carthage, — Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki sent a message to congratulate Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on re-election.

Marzouki underlined Tunisia's keenness to lay the ground for a new stage of joint action so as to hoist bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, said a Presidency press release.

The Caretaker President also stressed determination to strengthen coordination and cooperation to take up common challenges, meet the aspirations of the two peoples and consolidate the Arab Maghreb edifice.

Abdelaziz Bouteflika won re-election for a fourth term in office with an officially tabulated 81.53% of the vote, Minister of Interior and Local Communities Tayeb Belaïz announced on Friday.

At the final vote count, President Bouteflika received 8,332, 598 votes while Ali Benflis won 1,244,918 (i.e. 12.18%).
