Liberia: Ecobank Wins News' Olympic Trophies

Ecobank-Liberia over the weekend collected the kickball and football trophies in the just ended mini Olympic organized by the NEWS Newspaper. Ecobank defeated the NEWS in the finals of the kickball and football.

In football, normal time ended goalless. Ecobank won the football following post match penalties, which ended 4-5.

The Olympic was part of activities marking the Silver Jubilee celebration of the paper and it took place on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Bardnersville Estate Sports Pitch, outside Monrovia.

The Olympic brought together The NEWS Newspaper, EcoBank-Liberia Novafone and Farbric Radio.

The Olympic included kickball and football matches. Despite the paper recalling over 12 of its professional, they could not defend their unbeaten record against an Ecobank.

In the first match, the News defeated Fabric Radio 3-2 to qualify for the final while Ecobank whipped Novafone 2-1 paving their way to the final in football.

In kickball, Fabric Radio failed to produce a kickball team thus qualifying News for the final. Ecobank flogged Novafone in the opening game.
