Somalia: Somali Lawmaker Killed in Car Bomb

A Somali lawmaker was assassinated and another wounded Monday (April 21st) in a car bomb in Mogadishu's Hamar Weyne district. "Somalia has today lost a committed parliamentarian who worked tirelessly to serve the people of Somalia and help rebuild our country," Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed said in a statement, referring to slain lawmaker Isaq Mohamed Rinow.

Mohamed Ali Dhuh, another lawmaker who was in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries. "This cowardly attack will not derail the progress made in Mogadishu and across Somalia," Ahmed added. The bomb exploded soon after the lawmakers left Rinow's house, said lawmaker Saynab Mohamed Amir, who lives nearby.
