Kenya: Residents Fault Road Contractor
By Albert Nyakundi
RRESIDENTS of Kahawa West have raised concern over the ongoing rehabilitation of a murram road in their ward. They have accused ward representative Cege Ngaruiya of not telling them who is the contractor behind the project on Bima road.
A resident said the workmanship is poor as the road does not have a drainage system. "The contractor has just burried culverts along the road without directing flood water out of the estate. Where will the flood water go?" said the resident. Another resident said Bima road has been used before by politicians as a "cash cow".
Former councillors allegedly repaired the road several times using substandard material and never constructed a drainage system making the road impassable during rainy season. Residents want to know the contractor and what he is paid to do on the road.
