Kenya: Govt to Plant Trees

The Government will plant 2.5 billion trees in the next four years to boost forest cover, Machakos Land executive has said. Joshua Musili said 60 million trees will be planted in Machakos county. He said the county government has set aside Sh100 million to plant two million trees.

Musili said the county government has identified the Mukau species that is drought resistant. Musili said local nurseries have been started for the tree that will be formally launched on June 5 during the international Environment day. The Minister said they were working with among others KWS, KEFRI,UNEP,KFS and the Kenya Red Cross.
