Malawi: South African Ministry of Trade Delegates Visit Mangochi

Mangochi — Delegates from the Republic of South Africa Ministry of Trade and Industry conducted a tour on Thursday to Mangochi District Council to learn how Local Economic Development Projects under the Local Development Fund (LDF) are being implemented.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency, Mike Moyo, Director of Urban Development in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development said the visitors came to Mangochi to learn and appreciate what Malawi is doing on Local Economic Development Projects because they would like to start a similar project in their country.

"They are here for some time and we are taking them to Monkey Bay which is a good demonstration of Local Economic Development Project, besides Monkey Bay is one of the Rural Growth Centres in the country initiated with funding from the African Development Bank," Moyo said.

Moyo said the Local Economic Development Project started way back in 2012 and 12,000 people have since benefited from the same.
