Tanzania: Bank Set to Support Women to Secure Plots

THE Tanzania Women Bank (TWB) is to provide plots with an official title deed to women operating small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to enable them access loans more easily.

TWB Managing Director Ms Margareth Chacha said this in Dar es Salaam over the weekend during an in-house training of the bank's staff on the scheme.

Ms Chacha said the scheme was aimed at helping women secure the plots with title deeds and have access to loans for purposes of expanding business or build houses. The plots can be used as collateral.

"We are planning to meet women in many parts of the country and help access the loans under the scheme," she said.

"I am calling upon all women to fully utilise the service to get plots with official title deeds. These will given them access to loans for expansion of their businesses," she explained.

She also said that the bank will work together with the Ardhi Plan, a land surveying company that will be responsible for surveying and allocating of plots countrywide. TWB's Head of Operations, Mr Yabete Zabron, said:

"The trainings that we received here today will help us to provide more loans to women. We believe this loan will be a victory to most of the women."

"We are now working in a very competitive environment with many financial institutions. Everyday we have to plan new programmes that will suit the need of Tanzanians," he added.

TWB officially opened its doors to the public on the 28th of July 2009. With passion and commitment to support female entrepreneurs and empower women.
