Liberia: EJS 'Kitchen Cabinet' Figure Defends 'Fraudulent' Contract

Monrovia — Adelaide Gardner, an influential member of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf's "Kitchen Cabinet" has strongly defended a catering contract, the Department of Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Justice opined was characterized by fraud and corruption in contravention of Section 131(1)(d) of the Public Procurement Concessions Agreement, 2010.

The contract to procure food and catering services for the Liberia National Police Training Academy is said to be valued at US$1.2 million per year. The contract has reportedly been revoked by the PPCC based on documentary evidence which identified fraud and corruption.
