Nigeria: Committee Stops Agitation for State Police

For the second time in the Power Devolution Committee of the National Conference, delegates could not reach a consensus whether mineral resources, mines, natural gas, oil fields and geological surveys should be retained in the exclusive list or listed as a concurrent legislative item.

Also, advocates of state police failed to include police in the concurrent list as delegates insisted on the centralisation of Police, insisting that Nigeria is not ripe for state police.
