Liberia: Lawmaker Blames Ellen

The Chairman of the Defiance Campaign against Constitutional Authority has blamed President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for the disrespect against Liberian leaders and elderly people in the country.

Representative Mentenokay Tingban of Nimba County Electoral District #9 expressed the belief that the inclusion of people in government after raining insults on the Presidency was absolutely wrong, emphasizing that those given positions in government after insulting their leaders will not know the importance to respect national leaders.

The Nimba County electoral District #9 lawmaker warned President Sirleaf to immediately stop appointing individuals who insult and continue to insult sitting authorities. He noted that the act of appointing individuals who rain insults on public officials is a clear attempt of support, and must not be encouraged. The Defiance Campaign Chairman was speaking to journalists in Gbarnga, when the congregation of the Grace Baptist Church in Gbarnga honored him, along with many others, including Representative Prince Moye and Former Bong County Superintendent Lucia Herbert for their contributions to peace and development in the country.

Chairman Tingban also called on the Church to see the process as everyone's business and should join the campaign in making Liberia a better place.
