Nigeria: Prudential Guards Clinches International Award in Frankfurt

Prudential Guards Limited (PGL), a leading Nigerian private security services company, has been presented the prestigious International Arch of Europe Award in the Gold Category.

The award which was during the recent Business Initiative Directions (BID) convention in Frankfurt, was in recognition of the company's commitment to quality, leadership, technology and innovation. The company was described as representing success for Nigeria in the business world.

The organisers of the award explained that the Gold Quality Award had in the past been presented to the world's largest business organizations, such as Tata Group, the largest multinational conglomerate in India, Turner Construction Company of USA, the constructor of numerous high profile buildings, RAO IJES of Russia, the largest power holding firm in Russia and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) ranked as one of the world's richest corporations on the list of Fortune Global 500.

The organisers also stated that the award was presented to Prudential Guards for her immeasurable contribution to the Business world for high standing quality and professionalism.

Receiving the Award on behalf of the company in Frankfurt from BID President Jose Prieto recently PGL's General Manager, Tokunbo Phillips, expressed great pleasure and delight at the recognition conferred by the Award which he considered a great honor.

He thanked the organisers, God and the company's clients who according to him, gave the service opportunities that brought about this recognition. He further pledged the company's continued commitment to the pursuit of quality and excellence.

Prudential Guards Limited (PGL) was established in 1988 by Mr. Andrew Utah, Managing Director, with the mission to provide world-class private security services with core values as competence, quality, innovation, and integrity.

In a press statement sent to THISDAY , Phillips, while reacting to the award, said the company was from inception, quick to build a team of well-trained, experienced and motivated personnel at all levels that identify with the vision of the organisation.

"This soon resulted in excellent service delivery and client satisfaction. Thus from the onset, the foundation of excellence was well laid. The outstanding success with the first set of clients, notably Ashland Oil (later acquired by Addax Petroleum), Canadian High Commission, US Embassy and Australian High Commission in Nigeria became an effective selling point to numerous other clients that followed", he said.

PGL, in more than 25 years, Utah said, has successfully served very many international and domestic organisations to meet their usually very high security objectives primarily in the provision of security guarding, background investigations, corporate due diligence checks, armed and unarmed response, escort and protocol services.

According to the statement, the company's client base principally comprises organisations in oil and gas, banking and financial services, diplomatic and consular services, manufacturing, commercial and residential real estate, shopping malls, and hospitality services.

According to the statement, client retention has been among the highest in the industry, having served most of its clients for more than 22 years.

Phillips said that client satisfaction goals of PGL have driven the company to continuously innovate by adopting new technologies and training, adding that by applying more efficient internal and external systems of operations, the company has translated changing client demands in response to the highly dynamic global and domestic security environment into quality improvement opportunities.

He explained that benefits driven from joint training and other collaborations with international clients have also enhanced the quality profile of PGL and the value of services rendered to all clients.

He added, "PGL is ISO: 9001:2008 certified, and also a leading brand in the private security industry in Nigeria. The company has been the private security service company of choice for most international organisations and businesses in the country for many years.

PGL has received performance, and safety related awards and commendations over the last 15 years (1999 -2014) from various organisations such as ExxonMobil Nigeria, Nigeria Institute for Industrial Security (NIIS), and Society of Security Practitioners of Nigeria (SSPN). The Institute for Government Research and Leadership Technology awarded PGL 'Best Private Security Company of the Year', and 'Best Security Personnel and Man-guarding Services Company'".

Phillips also said that the company offers comprehensive, competitive, and well-structured terms and conditions of employment, training and career development, stressing that with staff strength ranging from 7,000 to 9,000, the company was one of the largest employers of labor in the private security industry in Nigeria.

In 2010, the company was established in Ghana to replicate its business model in that country.

Maintaining that PGL was absolutely committed to delivering high quality services to its clients with new systems technologies and training, Phillips said that the (IAE) International Arch of Europe for Quality and Technology Award acknowledges strong commitment to quality and excellence.
