Mogadishu — Al-Shabaab's assassination of two Somali lawmakers in Mogadishu in broad daylight within a 24-hour period and the militant group's continuing activities across the capital have served as a wake up call for security forces and citizens alike.
The growing sense of insecurity in the capital has called into question the security forces' ability to contain the threat of al-Shabaab and also prompted renewed calls for the public to become more involved.
