Kenya: Port City Must Be Secure, Says Balala

MININING Secretary Najib Balala has said insecurity incidents in Mombasa will scare away investors. Balala said Mombasa is critical for business in Kenya.v He said Mombasa is a major port city that serves the entire East Africa region. Balala was speaking on Monday evening during the re-opening of MTN business offices in Mombasa town.

He called for heightened security, tolerance and cohesion among Mombasa residents. "Mombasa is the gateway to East Africa hence safety and security is key for business. We need to unite and ensure we create a conducive business environment," said Balala. This comes as the government continues to weed out illegal immigrants blamed for insecurity.
