Tunisia: Private Sector Wage Talks to Start Soon

Tunis — Wage negotiations in the private sector will start early next week once the agreement on raising the guaranteed minimum industrial wage (SMIG) is signed, Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) Hassine Abassi announced.

Abassi said, Thursday, at a meeting on Labour Day in Mohamed Ali Hammi Square, Tunis, that it was agreed with the Government to begin pay talks in the private sector so as to address the deteriorating purchasing power of wage earners...
