Egypt: Retired Army Officer Shot Dead in Sinai

Sinai — A retired army officer was shot dead by unknown assailants in Northern Sinai's Arish on Sunday, security sources said.

The security sources told Aswat Masriya that the retired officer was shot in his neck, which caused his death promptly.

The Egyptian security forces have launched an ongoing security campaign against militants who have been targeting police and army personnel in Sinai since the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi last year.
