Somalia: Security Forces Conduct Search Sweeps in Mogadishu

The National Intelligence & Security Agency along with the Somali Police Force conducted thorough search crackdowns last night in some neighborhoods of Mogadishu.

A senior police officer reported to Shabelle that the purpose of the sweeps was to monitor the security conditions in the capital city and to strengthen the level of peace in all districts of Benadir region.

Mogadishu has seen a surge in planned assassinations of high-profiled officials and politicians in the last couple of days after only yesterday an explosive device was strapped to the car of a legislator and the former secretary of Benadir Regional Administration killed in an explosion in Mogadishu yesterday.
