Kenya: Dennis Akumu's Wife Unveils Sauti Ya Raia Party in Kisumu

NYAKACH constituency politician Grace Akumu has unveiled a new political party called Citizen's Convention Party, whose slogan is 'Sauti ya Raia'. The CCP party leader, Grace, said the aim of the party is to champion democracy and well-being of Kenyans. Akumu contested Nyakach parliamentary seat in 2013 and lost to MP Aduma Owuor. She is the wife of former Cotu secretary general Dennis Akumu.

Akumu said her party is anchored in democracy, and will empower the community economically, promote food security and ensure equitable distribution of national resources. She said the party will focus on serving the interests of marginalised people, including youth and women so that they have a voice in transforming the leadership of Kenya. Akumu said the CCP will not be dominated by a group or individuals and will not support "monopoly politics".
