Nigeria: Keshi Names W'Cup Provisional List

Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi on Tuesday named a provisional 30-man list for the forthcoming World Cup in Brazil devoid of any surprise.

But this was after another meeting with the Nigeria Football Federation Technical Committee members. The first meeting between Keshi and the technical committee members on April 22 was deadlocked with the NFF embargoing the list. Consequently, the NFF asked the coach to consult widely before releasing his provisional list.

After his wide consultation, Keshi released a list on Tuesday with Joseph Yobo given another opportunity to grab a shirt for the World Cup. The captain has Godfrey Oboabona, Kenneth Omeruo, Elderson Chiejile, Juwon Oshaniwa, Efe Ambrose, Azubuike Egwueke and Kunle Odunlami to fight for the team. Mikel Obi leads the pack of midfielders that also included Ogenyi Onazi, Ramon Azeez, Ejike Ozoenyi, Sunday Mba, Reuben Gabriel, Nosa Igiebor, Joel Obi and Uchebo Michael. The invited forwards are Musa Ahmed, Shola Ameobi, Victor Moses, Emmanuel Emenike, Obina Nsofor, Osaze Odemwingie, Uche Nwofor, Babatunde Michael and Nnamdi Oduamadi.

The list also has four goalkeepers which are Vincent Enyeama, Chigozie Agbim, Austin Ejide and Daniel Akpeyi, However, Expectedly, Villareal striker, Ike Uche was not invited alongside Shackle 04 winger, Chinedu Obasi. Also missing are Leon Balogun and Dynamo Kiev forward, Brown Ideye.
