Ghana: Nigerian Firm Acquires Ghana's Brands and Products Ltd

Brands and Products Limited, a marketing communications company established in Ghana in 2009, has been acquired by Verdant Zeal Marketing Communications Nigeria.

Following this landmark acquisition done, among others, through share purchase and transfer agreements, Verdant Zeal is now the first Nigerian indigenous marketing communications company to buy over and own a majority stake in other foreign advertising agencies across the African Continent.

The 60% acquisition was consummated in February 2014, after months of preparation and negotiations. Consequently, Brands and Products will now be known as Verdant Zeal Ghana Limited, according to parties to the deal. The next phase of expansion for the group is East Africa, "as we seek to plant strong footprints of "innovation" in Africa, in a bid to build a global powerhouse," the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Verdant Zeal Ghana Limited, Charles Ampofo, revealed.

He noted: "While the management of Brands and Products Limited is maintained, we benefit from the strength of the Verdant Zeal brand, capacity building, operational efficiency, and creative growth of client base through deliberate innovation." Mr Ampofo explained: "Service offering is also enhanced with a multidisciplinary operational support. This means that beyond creative advertising, media planning and buying, PR and event management and activations, we can also go into mainstream audiovisual production and printing."

The philosophy behind the Verdant Zeal Brand, he noted, was premised by the acronym "OTOBOS", which means "On time, on budget and on strategy" - A requirement desired by every modern, results-oriented business of this generation. "Our mantra of 'Nothing is impossible' allows us to see beyond our horizon, and boldly aim to proverbially change wheels, while the vehicle is still in motion," the CEO stated.

Mr Ampofo noted: "We are determined to change the face of marketing communications in Ghana, and positively contribute to the growth and development of the industry. "Our staff is assured of the best place to work; our industry is assured of positive and friendly competition and collaboration; our shareholders are assured of great value for every cedi invested."
