The response of the Nigerian government to the abduction of more than 200 girls from a school in the northeast of the country by Boko Haram, an Islamist terrorist group, has been a disgrace.
Politicians from all sides have compounded the incompetence of their efforts to locate the pupils by attempting to gain political mileage from the abduction and from the wider issue of insurgency.
