Zimbabwe: DJ Killed for Playing Boring Music

A MAN died after being assaulted for playing "boring music" during an Independence Day party, a Gwanda court heard this week.

Elson Samuel Tirivavi, 22, suffered severe head injuries after he was bashed with a chair and a bottle at Tuli Training Centre in Guyu, a local magistrate was told.

Prince Ndlovu, 25, Paballo Dube, 22, and Bekithemba Vela, 23, all from Sengezane, were charged with murder when they appeared before magistrate, Sheila Nazombe.

Edward Ndlovu, prosecuting, said Tirivavi was a DJ during an Independence Day celebration on April 18 when Dube took issue with his choice of music.

A fist fight ensued between Dube and Tirivavi, who was in the company of his cousin, Misheck Chirwa.

The three men were remanded in custody to May 19.
