Tunisia: Army Widens Scope of Control in Selloum, Semama Mountains

Tunis — The National Army broadened the scope of its control in Selloum and Semama mountains, spokesperson for the Defence Ministry Colonel Major Taoufik Rahmouni said.

Military operations are going on in Mount Chaambi, according to a pre-established action plan, to prevent terrorists from accessing or getting out of the closed military area, he highlighted.

To this end, army units on the ground are firing at suspect positions, the spokesperson indicated.

By virtue of a Republican Decree dated April 11, 2014, Chaambi, Semama, Selloum and Meghila mountains were declared closed military areas to which entry is subject to prior authorisation.
