Kenya: Nakumatt Opens New Branch in Kitale Mall

NAKUMATT will open branches in 47 counties in five years, managing director Atul Shah has said.

Speaking in Kitale town during the official opening of the supermarket's third North Rift branch yesterday, Shah said they are committed to supporting county development.

The new Sh140 million supermarket is at the New Mega centre mall.

Shah said the firm is engaging with a number of property developers across the country to build malls in Machakos, Nyeri, Kajiado, Garrissa,Embu,Narok and Homabay in the first and second phases of the project.

He said the lack of malls is posing a challenge to the nationwide expansion of the firm.

"Apart from creating jobs at the county level, our firm will provide a market platform for local farm produce" Shah said.

"As we open our first county level outlet in Kitale, this project will involve a wide range of skills transfer and guidance to ensure the local produce meets the required quality, packaging and related standards."
