A new report released by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Thursday has documented "gross violations" of human rights including targeted attacks on civilians by government and opposition forces that amount to "crimes against humanity."
The report, drawn from over 900 interviews with victims and witnesses, found civilians in South Sudan "were not only caught up in the violence, they were directly targeted, often along ethnic lines," with forces on both sides of the conflict attacking mosques, hospitals, churches, and UN compounds.
