Congo-Kinshasa: Female Condom Not a Hit Among Goma Women

Goma — "What are you talking about?" That's a common response from young women in Goma when they're asked about the femidom.

Angélique Wamahoro describes her five-year-old girl as a cute "accident" that occurred during her tumultuous teenage life in Goma, in eastern DRC. When she got pregnant at age 16, she was totally unaware of the existence of contraceptives to avoid unwanted pregnancies. But today, Wamahoro claims to have used all available means to prevent not only pregnancies, but also sexually transmitted diseases.
