Uganda: Dealers Should Stop Arm Twisting

A few weeks ago, I followed with interest the fracas between the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and the used car importers association executive about Pre Export Verification of Conformity to standards-PVoC inspection fees for used Japanese cars export bound to Uganda and some neighboring countries.

There are a number of countries that have outsourced the services of JEVIC- Japanese Export Vehicles lnspection Center to carry out pre-shipment inspection before JDM-Japanese Domestic Market cars are exported to their countries. Some of these include S.Africa, Pakistan, Britain, New Zealand, Singapore, Kenya and Uganda to mention a few.
