Ghana: Otumfuo Rekindles Ashanti Spirit

Kumasi — Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has called on Ghanaians to join Asanteman in its battle against poverty and disease. He urged the people to adopt the brain power to wage a battle on the battle ground of education against illiteracy, disease and poverty, to ensure high quality of life for the people.

"The glory of Africa is the glory of Ghana. The Glory of Ghana is the glory of Ashanti," Otumfuo said. The Asanthehene also called on Ashantis to awaken their spirit of creativity, innovation and enterprise to give meaning to the battle cry of "Kum apem a, apem beba." The occasion was a grand durbar of chiefs and people of Ashanti in observation of the Akwasidaekese to climax the three month long 15th anniversary celebration of the enstoolment of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
