Kenya: Landmark Case in Mombasa

A landmark case has been filed at the Children's Court in Mombasa where a 21-year-old woman wants parental responsibility to be extended beyond the 18th birthday.

Halima Lali has sued Ibrahim Bwanamkuu, a tycoon operating in Watamu. The court issued restraining orders preventing the defendant from leaving the country until the case is heard inter parties on Thursday. Halima's lawyer Francis Kadima says Bwanamkuu should be compelled to support her education because she is suffering.
