Cameroon: 20th May Celebration - MINJEC Communes With Manoka Island

The Minister of Youth and Physical Education, Ismaël Bidoung Kpwatt will today officially launch activities to mark the 2014 edition of the National Day in Manoka island; situated in the Douala VI Subdivision, Wouri Division of the Littoral Region.

This will mark the second phase after Kye-Ossi in the South Region. Meanwhile the South West Region will take turn with earmarked festivities to hold in Meme Divisional Headquarters, Kumba in the days ahead. In view of ensuring a hitch-free event, members of the Littoral Regional Organising Committee for 20th May celebrations met yesterday Wednesday April 14 at the Governor's Office. With well defined roles and responsibilities, they aimed at finalising procedures regarding the grandiose ceremony. In Manoka, the day's programme envisages the official launch by the Minister, who was received the day before on the banks of the Mongo Bridge. The choice of this lieu was inspired by its historic significance in the origin and evolution of Cameroon. A visit of the Youth and Animation Centre and an award of gifts to the constituted youth groups and associations will immortalise the working visit.
