Gambia: In Health Worker's Case, Prosecution Clashed With Defense

The defense counsel for Ndey Touray, a health worker at the Brikama Health Centre Wednesday clashed with the police prosecutor over the manner the prosecutor addressed him.

Counsel L K Mboge went wild when Sub-Inspector Ebrima Sarr told him to sit down because (he) the prosecutor was on his feet. But this did not go down well with the defense counsel, who told the presiding magistrate that the prosecutor has gone beyond the limits. Counsel Mboge told the court that he is older than the prosecutor but the prosecutor to bulldoze that statement by saying 'please check yourself'. At that juncture, the magistrate intervened and called both side to his chambers to address the matter and after few minutes, they all emerged from the magistrates' chambers smiling an indication that the magistrate has calmed the situation.
