Gambia: Tass-SA-Yaram Contests Sanction

Pa Modou Jah, who goes by his sobriquet Tass-Sa-Yaram, has appealed the sanction inflicted on him by the Wrestling Federation. Tass in his letter addressed to the Federation says he was not satisfied with the way judgment was passed on him after being found guilty of punching a referee. The disciplinary committee of the Wrestling Federation earlier this month disclosed they have levied a fine of ten thousand dalasi (D10, 000) on the wrestler. Tass who was also warned of his future conduct was also set to have his next scheduled combat, deducted D5, 000, making the total punishment D15,000.

The secretary general of the Federation, Habibou Nyassi says the incident happened at the Garba Jahumpa Upper Basic School in Banjul on the 16th of April, 2014, at a wrestling contest organised by Baahi Yai Promotion. According to the letter that was also sent to Observer Sports desk, Tass, who was at the event as a spectator used a provocative word against the referees, telling them that "they know nothing", in which a referee responded to him telling him that "big wrestlers also know nothing". This according to the Federation did not go down well with the wrestler and therefore punched the official in the face.
