Nigeria: Army Hands Over Oil Theft Suspects

Abuja — THE army has handed three suspected oil thieves over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Officers of the Guards Brigade arrested the trio.

According to a statement from the anti-corruption agency, the suspects Gbenga Olusegun, Mohammed Yusuf and Auwal Abbas were arrested on May 12 at Toto Check Point, Keffi, Nasarawa State with a truck loaded with 33 000 litres of petroleum product suspected to be crude oil, and a Honda Civic Car.

The Commission added that Ibrahim Yidi, Head, Extractive Industry Fraud Section of the anti-graft agency received the suspects on behalf of the EFCC at a brief ceremony at the Commission's headquarters in Abuja.
